South Farm

South Farm is a beautiful, eco-friendly wedding venue with sustainability embedded at the heart of its operations.

Set across 20 acres of Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire countryside, South Farm is a beautiful, eco-friendly wedding venue with sustainability embedded at the heart of its operations. This strong environmental ethos drove the decision to install a 180 kWp ground-mounted solar PV system with an integrated 215 kWh battery system, helping to further reduce the venue’s carbon footprint. With the site going live at the beginning of December 2025, the system is forecasted to deliver an annual carbon saving of 34,491 kg, equivalent to 3,394,743 airplane miles.

DC coupling increases efficiency

Alongside the environmental benefits, the installation also provides significant energy cost savings, particularly valuable at a time of rising energy demand and electricity prices. Designed for long-term performance, the solar PV system will continue to support South Farm’s environmental and financial objectives for many years to come.
Typical commercial systems would include AC coupled batteries, however by installing the solar PV and battery simultaneously this allowed us to DC couple the solar PV. This improves the round trip efficiency of the stored energy by roughly 10% as well as reducing the initial installation cost.
