Redbourn Leisure Centre

90% of all energy generated has been used directly on site

As a busy community hub facing consistently high energy demand, Redbourn Leisure were determined to find a cost-effective, carbon-saving solution to help manage its long-term energy needs, while supporting its broader ESG goals. BeBa designed and installed a 130 kWp solar PV system alongside a AC- coupled 100 kW SolarEdge battery.

Low export to the grid

The combined solution maximises on-site self-consumption, reduces reliance on grid electricity, and saves over 19 tonnes of CO₂ each year. The battery system can be charged directly by the inverters or at cheaper overnight energy rates, before being discharged during peak daytime consumption periods.

Since going live in early October 2025, 90% of all energy generated has been used directly on site. The system is projected to produce 109,533 kWh per year, increasing Redbourn Leisure’s resilience against rising energy cost and supply fluctuations.

BeBa comments

“It was a real pleasure to work with Redbourn Leisure to help the centre reach their sustainability and financial goals. The solution incorporates a battery, which is particularly well suited to sites with low export limits – making it an ideal fit for Redbourn Leisure.
At BeBa, customer safety is always our top priority, and this is reflected in every installation we deliver. The battery system includes multiple layers of built-in safety and resilience, ensuring reliable and secure operation while maximising the long-term performance of the system.”
